Reflections: Looking back to move forward
Start of this year I quit my business.
At the age of 22 I took the plunge to follow my passion and build something of my own.
4 years of great learnings, a lot of memories, growth and finally the business getting acquired recently. It’s been a journey of many firsts.
It’ll be 8 months since I left my business. A lot has happened in these 8 months. Nothing has happened in these 8 months. Depends on perspective.
From a traditional sense I haven’t done jack since leaving my business professionally/monetarily. Just the bare minimum to survive.
In this time I’ve also - travelled a lot. Developed and cemented 4 new habits. Worked through my emotional states and the relationships around me - like opening up the last few knots inside of me. Helped my parents renovate their home. Picked up an old hobby and a new one regularly. Thought deeply about future, life, universe and everything. Read a lot. Gained knowledge. Experimented with my work. Brainstormed on many ideas. Had wonderful, insightful, funny, interesting conversations. So grew in almost all aspects except professionally (if professional growth is increase in income).
I guess growth, success & productivity are relative and it’s upto an individual to define their own definitions of these that align with their vision of life.
Before entering work zone again, here’s some highlights of last 8 months:
1. Picked up climbing regularly and went to the mountains to climb on real boulders!
2. Spent 10 days with the kids of a boarding school to run a self improvement program.
3. Made transition from a “fitness coach” to someone who coaches individuals to attain “deep health/happiness”.
4. Became a certified Sleep and Recovery coach.
5. Reunited with all my boys finally after so many years.
6. Travelled with my dog/family after years and took them hiking through the jungles of Goa along w my 85yo grandparents.
7. Oriented my physical practice to support my hobbies and long term health.
8. Danced in front of a crowd, TWICE!
As we enter the final third of this year, take some time to re-define your definition of success and take stock of how you’ve grown outside of work. 😊
